The 40th Day – February 9th
The fortieth day of the year is special to me.
On February 9th I celebrate my birthday and our wedding anniversary. It is a birthday I share with my Grand-daddy Luther Edge, Uncle David McKoy, 1st Cousin Alfred McKoy Jr., 3rd Cousin Lee Gore, along with special treasures SandraJ, NicoleP, and AlisaB. February 9th is also the day my mother, Myrtle McKoy Edge, passed away in 2017 and when my double grace day became a triple grace day.
As I reflect this 2/9/2023 morning on GOD’s goodness and grace upon my life all these years, I am grateful for all He has done and continues to do in my life and the circle of my beloved ones. I reminisced about Proverbs 14:1 and when my mother shared it with me -- I was going through a difficult phase and had some tough choices to make. I was further reminded that as I walk through life each and every day, my goal is to please God first and let His grace cover the rest.
Beware, Be Warned, Be Wise
Proverbs 14:1 (NKJV) -- 1 The wise woman builds her house, But the foolish pulls it down with her hands.
Ephesians 5:15–17 (NKJV) -- 15 See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, 16 redeeming the time, because the days are evil. 17 Therefore do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is.
Proverbs 3:5–6 (NKJV) -- 5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; 6 In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.
Whatever the specifics of where we are in life at the moment, GOD wants us to grow, mature, produce fruit that remains …
You see, JESUS, our rabbi and teacher did not want anything to go to waste…
Remember, as He fed the four thousand and five thousand, He wanted the left-over fragments picked up ...
He wanted full utilization of what He blessed ...
He wanted His disciples to follow in His footsteps and example.
1. He called for them to AWAKEN
2. He taught and trained them to ARISE
3. He empowered them and trusted them to ADVANCE
Beloved hear His voice, heed to His wisdom so we may grow there-by and go forth.
Yes, the Kingdom of GOD is at hand!
p.s.
As I think about various Bible messages, I see where forty signifies the time during which some sort of spiritual challenge takes place. Notice how God allows us to go through challenges in order to grow spiritually.
The 40-day time period highlights the importance of strengthening our faith by relying on God’s help in challenging circumstances. Also, 40 days highlights God’s patience with us. By using that generous amount of time to symbolize a period of spiritual growth in the Bible, God is sending a message that growing spiritually is a process that takes time to complete.
