Communion with I AM [part A]

Subject: Communion with I AM

Foundation ScriptureJohn 6:35 (AMP) -- 35 Jesus replied, I am the Bread of Life. He who comes to Me will never be hungry, and he who believes in and cleaves to and trusts in and relies on Me will never thirst any more (at any time)

As you think about your relationship with "I AM" (GOD), will you examine and consider the following:
1. What are you laboring over or looking for in life?
2. Who are you following – your own conscience, the crowd, or the Cloud?
3. Are you willing to commune with and consume all that I AM has for you?

Definition: COMMUNION
• "communion" [1] an act or instance of sharing; intimate fellowship or rapport; a close relationship with someone in which feelings and thoughts are exchanged.
• "Communion" capitalized [2] a Christian sacrament in which consecrated bread and wine are consumed as memorials of Christ's death; a Christian ceremony based on Jesus' last meal with his disciples, in remembrance of one's spiritual union with the body and blood of Christ; the act of receiving the Eucharistic elements ... i.e. Holy Communion.

Song: "Communion"  [2 minutes]

[A] Our First Communion – (Elohim, Adam & Eve) – Genesis 1, 2, 3

  • What are you laboring over or looking for in life?

As we think on “communion with I AM”, let’s go to the beginning – lets go to Genesis where it all started and look at Day 6 – Genesis 1:26 & 2:7

1:27 So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.

2:7 And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being/soul.

I love how GOD handled this whole situation … with wisdom, grace and so much love

• First, think about how Elohim formed man, breathed into him and he because a living soul.  The only one in creation to have this benefit

• Next, GOD placed man in the Garden of Eden and gave him a job, food, direction, choice and woman.

• With choice came temptation, and they both yielded and fell. The cost was enormous and affected all future generations.

• But what did GOD do, He did not leave them nor forsake them, in the cool of the day, He visited and spoke to them lovingly and gave them opportunity to be responsible and confess – yet they chose the blame game.

• GOD had to evict them from the garden of Eden for their own good. And then He made sure they could not eat from the tree of life in their current, fallen state and live forever like that.  It was His Fatherly, loving care making provision for mankind made in His image.

What are you laboring and looking for in life?

 - Are you running after temporal knowledge, possessions, or earthly things?

 - OR are you seeking that which is from above and will last for all eternity?

 - For Adam & Eve, in the garden, there were two trees to choose from – “the Tree of Life” which they could freely eat from and “the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil” … which they were instructed by GOD they would die if they ate from it.

- Deuteronomy 30:19–20 (NLT) -- 19 “Today I have given you the choice between life and death, between blessings and curses. Now I call on heaven and earth to witness the choice you make. Oh, that you would choose life, so that you and your descendants might live! 20 You can make this choice by loving the LORD your God, obeying him, and committing yourself firmly to him. This is the key to your life. And if you love and obey the LORD, you will live long in the land the LORD swore to give your ancestors Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.”

- Lamentations 3:22–23 (NIV) -- 22 Because of the LORD’s great love (& mercies) we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. 23 They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.

- 2 Corinthians 4:16–18 (CEV) -- 16 We never give up. Our bodies are gradually dying, but we ourselves are being made stronger each day. 17 These little troubles are getting us ready for an eternal glory that will make all our troubles seem like nothing. 18 Things that are seen don’t last forever, but things that are not seen are eternal. That’s why we keep our minds on the things that cannot be seen.

Choose Life! Choose Love! Choose the LORD, Jesus Christ!
